Choose: life and death separate choices.

Proverbs 22:1             June 22,2012

“ A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold”

What is a good name?  A good name is simply Christian character.   D.L. Moody said “Character is what you are in the dark”. Character is a commitment to Christ; a commitment built on discipline, motives, obedience, and persevering faith.  It is our integrity, attitude, moral fiber, and disposition.
            Three other points about character:
1)      It is the display case of Christ’s fruit of the spirit reflected in us
2)      It is the foundation of the Christian life—no shortcuts
3)      It represents our choice between good and evil—every time
If we choose evil over good one time, we must pray for forgiveness before our character has fled.
What are great riches? What are silver and gold? They are momentary rewards of an everlasting loss. The importance of passage to these days of momentary rewards will limit the possibility of eternal life. You must work toward your good name and God’s grace will carry you through.
